Maldição de Cunhambebe

Curse of Cunhambebe

Caio Bonneau is a bar consultant and bartender in his own bar in Ubatuba, he lives surrounded by the Atlantic forest, and has developed a huge passion for the ingredients of this biome. With this passion, others came, such as for the history and knowledge of the people who lived there and also for the caiçaras who inhabit the region today. Completely enchanted by Tiês Sangue, Saíras, Saruês, Bugios, Preguiças, among other wonders of this biome, he conveys his passion in his columns on Mixology News, in his bar and in every possible glass, as is the case with this drink created with Pindorama.

Cunhambebe was a Morubixaba, a warrior and spiritual leader. He was the one who conducted the anthropophagic rituals, which were accompanied by dances, drinking cauim and the meat of his opponents. The Portuguese and Jesuits proposed a peace agreement to Cunhambebe, and after some time of negotiation this agreement was accepted, but the Portuguese broke the agreement and attacked the Tupinambás, who were massacred because they were sick due to contact with the Europeans. They say that after this betrayal, Cunhambebe placed a curse on these lands saying that nothing would prosper until the people venerated the true owners of the land - the Tupinambás. And as we continue to not venerate them, the curse of Cunhambebe remains alive.
